GIRLS ON THE RUN ST. LOUIS RETURNS SPRING 5K RACE TO DOWNTOWN AT BALLPARK VILLAGE
Family-friendly atmosphere offers ideal setting for popular seasonal tradition
ST. LOUIS (Jan. 23, 2025) – Girls on the Run St. Louis announced its annual Spring Season Celebratory 5K will take place May 10 in Ballpark Village. The new location offers a fun neighborhood atmosphere for the family-friendly event. The 5K will kick off in Ballpark Village, head north down 7th Street, through the historic Landing and Gateway Arch grounds before returning to Ballpark Village. Registration information is available at GirlsOnTheRunStLouis.org.
With a mission to inspire girls of all abilities to believe in themselves and their community, trained volunteer coaches use an evidence-based curriculum with physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills while encouraging healthy habits for life. The Spring Season Celebratory 5K is the final goal of the spring program season for the participants to complete together, to achieve a tangible sense of accomplishment and set their confident mindsets in motion.
“We’re excited to bring our Spring Season Celebratory race back to Downtown St. Louis and to Ballpark Village for the first time,” said Courtney Berg, Executive Director for Girls on the Run St. Louis. “Ballpark Village is a wonderful and generous community partner, and the neighborhood offers an iconic and upbeat downtown St. Louis community experience for our Girls on the Run and their supporters.”
Girls on the Run St. Louis serves more than 5,000 girls in third through eighth grade from 23 counties in Missouri and Illinois with programs that teach them they can do anything they set their minds to through programs that build healthy physical and mental habits that last long beyond the program timeframes. More than 6,000 runners participated in last spring’s Girls on the Run 5K event.
“The people and businesses that make up Ballpark Village have been long-time supporters of youth and community programs. From Giveback Tuesdays at Katie’s to proceeds from Spark’s annual Every Startups Holiday events, our residents and tenants consistently give back to our community,” said Mike LaMartina, President of Ballpark Village. “We look forward to hosting thousands of participants in our neighborhood with a celebratory atmosphere for all of the Girls on the Run program participants and their friends and family.”
