Volunteer Spotlight on Cassandra Quinney
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm a wife and mother to an amazing daughter! In my free time I enjoy reading, watching movies and spending time with family. I also enjoy boxing class (it's a great stress reliever)
Why did you choose to volunteer/get involved with GOTR?
I love mentoring young girls! I also love the program and all that it offers.
Ultimately, I want to be the person I needed when I was younger.
What is the most rewarding thing about Girls on the Run?
The relationships that I build with the girls and the growth that I see from the 1st week to the 10th week!
How has GOTR-STL impacted your life?
Being a part of the GOTR-STL program has afforded me the opportunity to meet many Empowering Women.
What is your favorite memory from your time with GOTR?
My favorite memory was Fall-17 as a Sparkler, running back and helping the last girl who was completing the program and the race for the very first time, cross the finish line in the rain. WHAT AN AMAZING MOMENT!
Why would you recommend others get involved with Girls on the Run?
I would recommend others to become involved with GOTR because not only will you aid young girls in their growth, but as a coach your life will be impacted in a tremendous way as you give back!
What are your hopes for the future of Girls on the Run as an organization?
My hope is that the GOTR program will continue to stand firm on all things that empower young girls to grow, learn, be brave and strong! I also hope that the program will continue to empower young girls and women to break the glass ceiling!
