Teach Girls to Use Their Voice

In a world that so often tries to silence girls and women, Girls on the Run encourages girls to raise their voices. Although voting is done, our mission to inspire and empower girls remains stronger than ever. Today and every day, Girls on the Run St. Louis is committed to helping ALL girls — of all races, ethnicities, backgrounds and experiences — recognize their inherent power and strength.
How do you lead by example and teach your girl to use her voice? Here are some suggestions:
- take time to reflect;
- stick to the facts;
- have an open conversation;
- share how your values make an impact on how you vote;
- tell her she can make a difference;
- listen and acknowledge her thoughts and feelings.
As we await the outcome of the election, we are leaning into our core value of finding strength in our connectedness. Our work doesn’t stop once all the votes have been tallied. Girls on the Run will continue to speak up and stand up for girls across the St. Louis community.
The Girls on the Run mission of empowering girls is only achievable with a functioning and fair democracy, founded in the right to vote. Demanding all votes be counted fairly is not a partisan issue.
We stand together in amplifying ALL voices as we work together toward a more equitable and inclusive world for all.
