Emily Franz, Development Director, joined Girls on the Run St. Louis in March 2018. Originally from Baltimore, MD, Emily spent six years working in K-12 education in St. Louis - initially as a first grade teacher in St. Louis Public Schools and then shifting to college readiness work with area high school students. Emily was part of the founding leadership team of the Washington University College Prep Program, an immersve, on-campus learning experience aimed at preparing students for success at a selective college or university of their choice. She is passionate about education here in St. Louis and loves how the Girls on the Run program can enrich a student's education - empowering her with the confidence and skills to set and reach ambitious goals!
Emily first became involved with Girls on the Run through the Michiana chapter (serving southern Michigan and northern Indiana) while in college at the University of Notre Dame. She served as a campus representative to the then newly-formed council and helped to plan their 5k on campus! Emily has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Notre Dame and later went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University.
