Sarah Roberts
In-Office Volunteer

When did you first get involved with Girls on the Run and why? I got involved with Girls on the Run at the beginning of this year. I was familiar with the organization through work I did in previous years at area schools. It was important for me to volunteer somewhere where a positive pay it forward difference is being made.

What is the most rewarding thing about Girls on the Run that both you’ve experienced and that you’ve seen for the girls you’ve coached?
The most rewarding thing I’ve seen is the enthusiasm of the staff for their part in building young women’s self-esteem through physical fitness.

Why would you recommend others get involved as a volunteer for Girls on the Run OR why would you recommend a girl participate in Girls on the Run? If I were to go back to elementary or middle school, the only thing I wish I had, would be Girls on the Run. The core values of self-esteem, focusing on a healthy mind and body are such powerful tools. I would highly encourage any young girl to participate in such an invaluable program.

What are your hopes for the future of Girls on the Run as an organization? I hope as an organization, the name will become a household name across the country.

Any favorite memories or stories you’d like to share? The friendships I have made while volunteering have not only helped with my own self-esteem, but made me feel valued for making a positive difference.

Anything about yourself you’d like to share? The best thing one could know about me is that I’m a survivor of life and that a positive attitude will overcome most any obstacle. Also I love animals!
