Girls On The Run St. Louis is powered by the dedication and enthusiasm of volunteers and supporters. Their commitment and passion to inspire girls to be confident, courageous and strong is what keeps us running. This year at our annual Power of One Gala we are excited to announce the launch of the "Energy Award," modeled after our Girls On The Run practice tradition to appreciate teammates. Girls on the Run teams conclude each practice with an energy award to recognize, honor and show gratitude for their teammates.

Our 2016 Girls on the Run St. Louis Energy Awards are a way we can thank those that have supported and continue to support Girls on the Run St. Louis over the years.  They share our vision of a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential!

Kimberly Berry, Girls on the Run St. Louis Volunteer Coach

Kimberly Berry has been coaching since the Fall of 2013 when she brought Girls on the Run to her school, Bermuda Elementary School in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, where she is a Kindergarten educator. Her sincere enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Girls on the Run St. Louis is evident to her girls, fellow coaches and anyone who meets Coach Kim!

“I see Girls on the Run having a continuous impact on the St. Louis community because the work to empower girls will always be relevant. If we want strong schools, communities and leaders then it’s inour best interest to make sure we give our girls the tools they need to be able to draw from their inner strength and let them know that anything is possible with hard work, determination and a positive attitude.”

Jill Indovino, Founder of Girls on the Run St. Louis

In 2002, a St. Louis mother read an article in Runners World magazine about an organization called Girls on the Run with a mission to empower, educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. As the mother of two daughters and one son, Jill Indovino was intrigued. Her vision, courage and tenacity is what led Girls on the Run St. Louis to form and grow from 20 girls meeting at a park bench to one of the largest councils in North America.

“I started it because its approach just rang true with me and there wasn’t anything else like it!”

As Executive Director of Girls on the Run St. Louis for nearly ten years, Jill’s leadership and dedication have been the foundation upon which Girls on the Run St. Louis has flourished.

Their daughter, Sarah, was part of the first Girls on the Run St. Louis team and their son, Will, has embraced the family’s commitment to live a healthy, active lifestyle, as well!
