SAVE THE DATE! Girls on the Run Fall 5K, Saturday, November 8th, is fast approaching. Another fun-filled day of running and activities is on the way at our new location, The Muny in Forest Park. From face painting, colored hairspray and glitter to dancing and massages, this will surely be a memorable time! We are expecting about 1000 runners but hopefully more with the 29 teams amongst the 24 schools, so tell your family and friends.
This will also be our first race using the DAG Timing System-a 2nd generation "chip" system offered through Fleet Feet, where each participant's race number contains a disposable identification chip. This system is great since official times will only reflect time spent between the start line and finish line. This should also improve our delivery of race results in record time.

A new study from our own Washington University School of Medicine and Harvard Unversity showed that physical activity during adolescence and young adulthood can reduce a women's risk of early breast cancer. "This is just one more reason to encourage young girls and women to exercise regularly." remarks lead investigator Graham Colditz, M.D., Dr.P.H., the Niess-Gain Professor and associate director of Prevention and Control at the Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
